I'd made a tentative booking for a ride with a school buddy ("old" is assumed) to go for a ride this morning weather permitting.  The sky was black in the early a.m. but I was determined to head out, so I called and told him I was prepared to get wet and was going anyway.  He thought that was a plan and we decided to meet at

I thought when I bought the Road King that I'd get a thousand or so k's out of the well worn rear tyre, I managed 2k k's, so as happy as I was about that, it was time for a change.  A new rear white walled tyre plus new rear brake pads makes the new shoes story complete for the bike since I bought it.  All just in time for my second try

After the second wash of the Road King last Saturday I realised that the bike was getting nearly as much dust on it from sitting in the garage for the week than it was from riding on weekends.  It was also almost time to start storing the bike in a location set aside in our offices and return my car to it's spot in the garage.  So I had

Some kidless free time with my wife presented the opportunity to shop for the final piece of the bike gear puzzle for her, the helmet.  We tried the big bike store and Harley dealer first, no luck there for size and colour, so we went back to the place I bought my bike.  She tried on Nolan's, BMW's and others without too much luck and

Roy and I decided to head south today with a 9am start.  A quick fuel topup for $7.66 (6.69litres) and I was ready to go.  My son, of course, was ready too.  Roy arrived on timeish and we decided to take the meandering route via the Swansea bends and along the coastline through the central coast, a quick jaunt up to the freeway and

Rego's due next month and the Harley guru told me that the new battery bracket I've been waiting for was in so I took the Road King down to the Guru to organise an inspection and fit the new battery/bracket.  It's getting close to needing a new rear tyre too, passed for now but booked in mid next month to get that done.

Interestingly

Quick trip to the servo tonight, $13.43 worth of fuel.  Hopefully the weather will be nice in the morning, if it is I've got a 7amish start planned and a few hundred k's to ride.  Fingers crossed. Note that the recent reductions in fuel prices are even noticeable in a tank the size of the Harley.

For the first time today I also

Things have changed a little with insurance structures on motorcyles since I last had one in the mid 1990's.  My recollection of how things worked in the 90's was that comprehensive insurance was expensive and third party was relatively cheap (but I can confirm that my recollection is sometimes up to shit).  I was pleasantly surprised

Still no call from the local Harley dealer regarding the dreaded glove purchase for my wife.  No surprises there.  I haven't been idle though, a quick email to Morgan and Wacker in Queensland got an email back within 10 minutes confirming they had a pair in stock and a price

The weather was a few degrees cooler than the last couple of days and after the success of the Tea Gardens lunch with the family a last minute decision was made to head off for lunch again, this time motoring towards the vineyards.

My son chose the bike again so we geared up and away we went.  First thing, 13.53 litres of premium
