I've been off my Harley-Davidson® Road King® for a couple of weeks now, since the very painful trip back from Canberra. Since then I've moved house, spent Christmas and New Years at home with the family and lots of friends who have dropped by to check out our new digs. It's been so flat out that I embarrassingly
Today was a very familiar, easy riding run between Canberra and home. It's a trip I've done many times before on motorcycles, in cars and even on a bus (planes too but they don't count in this context). The 460k's or so is relatively trivial, particularly when the weather is as good as it was today. So what could go wrong?
An early start this morning saw us leave our hotel before breakfast. I wanted to get well clear of Melbourne before the traffic hit. On the way out of town I fuelled up, knowing I'd then have plenty to get to Glenrowan but acknowledging that waiting that long for breakfast wasn't going to happen.
With the National HOG Rally over Zanderhar(d) and I had planned to ride to Melbourne. We had tickets to see Linkin Park that night and were both very keen to experience that! Last night we were invited to join a group from one of the Victorian Chapters for a scenic ride towards Melbourne, close enough to et us onto one of the
Sunday of the National HOG Rally at Mt Buller, what a pearler. I'm not going to go into a great amount of detail here, again, you had to be there, but the highlights
The Thunder Run from the bottom of the mountain, through Mansfield, around a biggish loop back into the main street of Mansfield full of locals, coffee shops
The National HOG® Rally being held at the alpine resort of Mt Buller, Victoria was the destination today. I woke up a little "tired" after being forced by weather to remain in a pub longer than I would have liked last night. My son, Zanderhar(d), wasn't prepared to concede any compassion for his old dad, a buffet
Today's the day Zanderhar(d) and I were heading south to begin our trip to the 20th Anniversary National HOG® Rally being held in Mt Buller, Victoria. Today's ride, 700k's or so to Albury down the Hume Highway. It's a traditional first night stop when heading south, an easy, slightly boring ride pretty much on the freeway
Today was the 2010 Newcastle Bikers Toy Run organised by Big John to collect toys and raise money for the Salvation Army to use to make Christmas better
It's been too long since I'd been on my Harley Davidson® Road King® and a mate, Dave, mentioned last week that he was riding up Thunderbolts Way and across the Oxley Highway with some friends to stay overnight at Port Macquarie today. I was dead keen to go but couldn't stay overnight because I had commitments
Today we rode home from Canberra, the predominant theme for the day was rain. It was cool when we left the first drops of rain falling while we were riding along the side of Lake George. By the time we passed the Goulburn exit steady rain had set in.
With stops at Marulan, Pheasants Nest and Macas at Thornleigh there were lots
