I was home having lunch today and my wife, who doesn't work Fridays, suggested that we go for a quick ride, making it also clear she was talking about the Harley, although it got me thinking momentarily about whether full helmets were sexy (or a possible replacement for paper bags in situations unlike my own).

Kitted up in 10 minutes flat

Today I was going to do a preliminary test on the odometer on my new Road King because I reckon it's wrong.  Not far from me there's an RTA 5km odometer reading test thingy on the freeway so I headed out with my daughter with science in mind.  Right now I have to assume that the RTA can measure 5k's properly if they are

The weather has been unseasonably good this week and I've been using the Harley for most of the week for work errands except for the day and a half it was as the dealer's getting serviced.  It's been to the Accountant, to the Bank a couple of times, a delivery to a surprised client and the supermarket for office supplies (thanks to the King

I was told yesterday to expect a call about 10am to tell me my bike was ready to be picked up from it's first service.  The call came about 2pm, so I made my way to the local dealership to pick it up. I was unsure what the cost would be, the fitting of the Vance and Hines pipes was paid for as part of the purchase of the bike, I had

Today my new Road King had its first service and it was time to put on the new Vance and Hines pipes to get rid of the postie-bike sound the factory fitted pipes provide courtesy of anal noise legislation (no pun intended although I guess the legislators probably set the limits based on their whims and farts).

I had also made arrangements

If you had a spare hour to read my recount of yesterday's ride you may have noted the confusion over the number of K's I actually travelled.  I often take a GPS receiver with me to log my journeys and help create the ride maps you may have seen elsewhere on the site.

Doing this with my 1998 Road King wasn't an issue because the speedometer

Another perfect winter Sunday morning saw my son and I meeting up with Roy for a planned all day 400k or so ride.  JP (or should I say Mr Gunna) piked out at the last minute citing helping a friend move house, some people just don't order priorities correctly!

We left the local servo a touch later than planned and headed up towards

All week I'd been looking forward to getting away for the day with Roy and JP on Sunday.  As the week progressed the details of the day's ride were set, we were going to head up the Freeway to the Old Pacific Hwy at Mount White, a quick stop at Pie in the Sky then on to Galston via the Gorge and to the Old Northern Road.  Lunch was planned

I've mentioned previously that in the glory days my wife and I spent many k's together on large sports tourers, and her first and only experience on my '98 Road King was less than perfect, mostly due to the lack of passenger grab rails (and no option for them).  The first accessory on the list for the 2009 model replacement was the optional

This morning the local HOG Chapter had a members only ride organised.  A short ride from Beresfield was planned, taking morning tea at Warners Bay and then heading out to the freeway and back to Caves Beach via Warnervale, Toukley and the swansea bends.

This was to be the "unveiling" of my new Road King to the HOG's and
