Tomorrow I head to Eastern Creek again and the rear tyre was very due for replacement after 16500 ks. I'd booked it in to the local dealer for tryes today and to get some of the arriving parts fitted. I chose the dealer because the Guru had told me that he couldn't get a front for the Harley, there were not available, and I thought the dealer might have one or be able to scrounge one up. As it turned out they couldn't bet a front, had orderd a back and since I'd booked it in I felt obliged to honour that, even though I knew the day before the Guru had stock of the rear.
I dropped my Road King off to the local Harley Dealer bright and early, the rear tyre that was to be fitted had not arrived but was expected about 10am. I had no choice but to get a new rear tyre today to one on it wasn't up to another trip to Sydney and a day on a racetrack, so I told them that if the tyre didn't arrive and couldn't be fitted by 12.30 they needed to call me so I could organise the Guru to fit the one he had.
12.45pm came and went, no call. I should have been able to assume that the tyre had arrived and had been fitted but experience has shown me it's better not to assume anything so I called. The guy I spoke to didn't have a clue what was happening and promised to ring back. He did ring back but the other guy who knew about it wasn't in. I decided that my best option was to turn up at the dealership and rescue my Harley in order to make my own arrangements to get the job done. On the way there I got a call from the dealership telling me the tyre had not arrived. My response probably didn't please them.
The new footpan had been fitted, the tyre obviously was not done. I was a little bit cross. I quickly called the Guru who confirmed he could fit a tyre that afternoon, asked for my keys and rode the Harley straight to the Guru. Fortunately I was also able to get a lift back to the Harley dealership to retrieve the car I'd left there.
Noel Green, the Guru, had come through again. Tyre fitted, wheel properly cleaned, $440 spent. That was the high point of the day, next came the low. I got rained on riding the Harley home after having spent 5+ hours yesterday cleaning the mongrel thing!
Oh well, at least I'm now ready for a very exciting day at Eastern Creek.
