A short entry today. The mailman delivered the certificates verifying our completion of the Iron Butt Association (IBA) Saddlesore 2000K and Bun Burner 2500K rides @officerhardass and I (with Zanderhar) did recently on our Harley-Davidson® Road King® touring machines.
For those of you who don't know that this means, when you do these rides you need to have start/end witnesses, keep fuel and other dockets to prove you were where you said you were, keep a log of stops with time/date/odometer readings and maps of the route and send it all to the IBA. The IBA then audit the ride, if something is missing or there are shortcuts you could have taken without providing a corner docket, then your ride isn't certified.
The reason.. if the ride is certified you can not only say you did it, you can prove it. The other reason is safety. If your log or description of the ride shows you ride like a maniac, it won't get certified either! Riding safely is a must in the sport of Long Distance Riding.
Also arriving were the patches and pins, so a trip to the patch lady is in order soon. Photo of patches below. As a side note, Zander now has three IBA certifications as a pillion at age 16, he's one tough lad.
