One day to go before the trip to Victoria and my 09 Harley Davidson Road King was at the Harley Guru's getting the Phase II 103 kit w/ Super Tuner tuned up to the max on the dyno. The local dealer had put a standard mapping into it that I'd been riding around on feeling very pleased for 500k's or so, I was interested to see what difference, if any, the dyno tune might make.
I was pretty happy with myself, I'd been running round like a blue arsed fly getting the bike upgraded and ready for the trip and this was the last thing. I got a call from the guru about 2pm that the bike weas good and ready to go so I got a lift down there to pick it up as soon as I could.
After a chat and being handed the 100% run graph (where they measure the hp and torque with the throttle open at 100%) the guru mentioned that the dealer mapping was a little all over the place with respect to fuel and the graph showed an improvement in torque and horsepower right through the rev range. Not hugely significant but definitely noticeable you can see in the graph.
When riding it away though the difference was immediately noticeable. The Harley ran smoother and seemed to have more go. There was also a significant reduction in exhaust popping when backing off and changing down through the gears, I guess pointing to the fact that all the fuel was now being burnt before hitting the exhaust.
All up, very happy with the Guru's Dyno job and I consider it $350 well spent.
