The Australian National HOG Rally is a definite now. Booked are VIP passes for my son and I and a workmate, JP, who also has a Harley and is keen to come, not only on the trip to Tassie but also on the full journey west across the Nullabor.
The trip across Bass Strait on the Spirit of Tasmania for the three of us brings a slight disappointment. The timing of the boat crossings didn't match our schedule so we have decided to leave our bikes in Melbourne and fly to Launceston for the event. It saves us about $1000 and at least a day which will be a nice contribution to the rest of the trip.
Accommodation in Launceston has also been arranged and noteably in that regard, there's three fifths of bugger all hotels down there that have any form of undercover parking for vehicles that I could find, so there's another benefit of leaving the bikes securely parked.
While it's been fun reasearching and organising, I'm reminded that due to weather and family commitments it's been over three weeks since I've been able to get the Road King out for a ride. Very frustrating. This weekend's rain, hail or shine, I'll be on it.
