Thinking of the year ahead on the first, rather dull weather wise, day of it prompted me to start the year with a ride. It's been more than three weeks since my last ride, the Toy Run, and the Harley was getting dusty. The family were busy playing with Christmas gifts and on Facebook so I took the opportunity to gear up and without a destination, route in mind or passenger off I went.
I went straight out the link road to the freeway and headed north towards Beresfield, deciding not to head south. Once at Beresfield, the choice to not head south was meaningless, so south I went off the roundabout. I passed the sign saying that Toronto was 24k's away, seemed OK i thought I'd go there, but when I got to the exit I kept on going. I didn't keep going at the Morisset exit though where I looped over the freeway and started north again.
I'd been riding at a steady pace, feet on highway pegs and smiling ear to ear. The turnoff onto Freemans Drive would get me off the freeway, over some bumps and around some bends so I took itto Kurri Kurri, took a right and headed back towards Beresfield. Not too keen on completely retracing any of my steps I turned right to go past Mt Sugarloaf and then left to Cameron Park.
I'd been on the link road so instead of turning right I went through Minmi then right to Wallsend and back to park the bike from there.
130 k's of completely meaningless riding, not stopping, not doing anything but sitting on the bike having fun. Perfect, hello 2010!
