After the day on Eastern Creek yesterday I spent last night at Parramatta having dinner with a couple of friends who I hadn't caught up with for ages. This morning my legs were still suffering from the trouncing they got holding me on to the Harley Road King going around the track. Today I was heading in to Sydney proper where I was meeting my wife for an easy day shopping, staying in The Rocks at the Park Hyatt.
Riding into the city was fine, the traffic around George, Pitt, Kent Sts etc was horrendous and the temperature was in the low 30's. While crawling along in traffic I noticed the Harley's engine heating up, and began using the twist forward on the throttle to try to keep the rear cylinder cool. Sadly it didn't seem enough, so after some strange and concerning engine sounds, the bike stopped running. I started it up and quickly found somewhere to park the bike to let it cool off.
After about an hour I started it up and went he additional 2 or 3 k's to my destination. The heat issue is definitely something I'll discuss with the dealer tomorrow when I get home.
