Over the last few days at the National HOG Rally I've had the opportunity to meet and chat with Bill Davidson is the son of Willie G Davidson, grandson of former Harley-Davidson president William H. Davidson and the Great Grandson of Harley-Davidson co-founder William A. Davidson.
Bill is at the time of writing the Vice President of Core Customer Marketing for Harley-Davidson. His dad, Willie-G is senior vice president & chief styling officer and his sister Karen is the Creative Director for General Merchandise. That's where he fits.
To sum it up, Bill is a nice bloke, very passionate about Harley-Davidson® Motorcycles and HOG®. He was quietly open, approachable and willing to chat and pose for a photo with anyone and everyone. He also carried his own silver and black permanent markers to sign the vests and jackets of all who asked and despite his busy schedule wasn't in a hurry to "move on" from one engagement while there were people who still wanted to meet him.
There's also a bit of the larrakin in Bill. I was eating Thai with some friends in Margaret River one evening and he walked past the window, stopped and did an almost Fonzie like point and smile at us through the window. I also believe there's a barrel of red at the Xanadu winery with his name on it.
Bill was clearly a popular part of the 2011 National HOG Rally and didn't disappoint anyone. To be honest it was a privilege to meet him, chat to him and listen to him speak about the motorcycles he loves. Good on you Bill. I hope we meet again one day.
