Rego's due next month and the Harley guru told me that the new battery bracket I've been waiting for was in so I took the Road King down to the Guru to organise an inspection and fit the new battery/bracket.  It's getting close to needing a new rear tyre too, passed for now but booked in mid next month to get that done.

Interestingly

The last few weekends have been full of family commitments and finally, despite the forecast 37 degrees, I was determined to go for a ride this morning and hopefully beat the worst of the heat.  My son was keen and I had no plans with respect to a destination.  I was aware that the local HOG chapter had a three day ride organised, that

Quick trip to the servo tonight, $13.43 worth of fuel.  Hopefully the weather will be nice in the morning, if it is I've got a 7amish start planned and a few hundred k's to ride.  Fingers crossed. Note that the recent reductions in fuel prices are even noticeable in a tank the size of the Harley.

For the first time today I also

Things have changed a little with insurance structures on motorcyles since I last had one in the mid 1990's.  My recollection of how things worked in the 90's was that comprehensive insurance was expensive and third party was relatively cheap (but I can confirm that my recollection is sometimes up to shit).  I was pleasantly surprised

Still no call from the local Harley dealer regarding the dreaded glove purchase for my wife.  No surprises there.  I haven't been idle though, a quick email to Morgan and Wacker in Queensland got an email back within 10 minutes confirming they had a pair in stock and a price

I've been to two Harley-Davidson stores now, run by the same company.  One is a nice shiny new store in Sydney and the other, the local one.  We visited the shiny one last week, looked over the bikes and were interested in what accessories and bits and pieces they had there.  We were in the store for about 20 minutes and not one salesperson

Given the soaring midday/afternoon temperatures of late we decided to go for a ride and grab some breakfast.  Once again my son pillioned and my wife and daughters travelled conservatively in my wife's car. We decided to head to The Entrance on the Central Coast, it's close enough to get to before the kids start eating their own arms but far

The weather was a few degrees cooler than the last couple of days and after the success of the Tea Gardens lunch with the family a last minute decision was made to head off for lunch again, this time motoring towards the vineyards.

My son chose the bike again so we geared up and away we went.  First thing, 13.53 litres of premium

After spending Christmas overseas with the family I was looking forward to getting back on the Road King after a rideless 8 days. Unpacking, restocking and general post trip duties completed my wife suggested that we all go somewhere for lunch, three in the car and two on the bike. Sounded a good idea to me, the outing ticked a number of boxes,

Out for Sunday morning breakfast with the family today.  It was a lovely day so my son and I took the bike in and my wife took the girls in by car.  Later in the day we dropped off Christmas presents to friends and relos.  Lucky the Road King has plenty of storage.  Deliveries are a little painful on the bike, but it's the
