While trawling around the internet a while back I read a review online at Road Rider Magazine reviewing wet weather motorcycle gloves. I have to say that I've never properly considered the "waterproofness" of motorcycle gloves before, often my choice is based on fit and warmth and if not much water gets in, that's a bonus.
Of course if the weather is warm and it rains I've always just been happy to let my leather gloves get wet and put up with the inevitable black stains on my hand to mark the occasion. Last winter though, I went searching for some warm gloves and ended up buying a pair of R Jays gauntlets with Thinsulate, Kevlar and all sorts of labels on them. I got them because I have big hands and they were the only ones that the shop had that fit and cost less than my mortgage repayment.
These R Jays gloves go sort of OK in the wet, but for some reason the cold seems to get in some of the finger seams quite quickly and they are just a little too fat fingered for fast and controlled hand controls while riding, particularly in traffic.
So while I've been thinking about the looming ride to Mt Isa and the Queensland State HOG Rally over the last couple of wet and freakin' cold weeks I went back to the Road Rider Wet Weather Glove Review and then took off to the local Harley dealer. My son got a pair of camo H-D gloves a while back that he speaks very highly of and I thought I'd see if I could track a pair of them down and put them in a bucket of water for 2 minutes. None there for me though, and I couldn't really see anything much else so I went up the road to the trusty BMW Dealership, purchase place of my first Harley Davidson.
I was lucky, I spotted a couple of pairs of the highly recommended Pro Winter 2 gloves hanging up and one pair fitted perfectly. The review didn't have a picture of them but when I had them on I recognised them as the same gloves my cousin wore throughout the very wet trip to Victoria we went on in March this year. He spoke very highly of them, so I snapped them up. Sadly they were more like a mortgage payment than the R Jays and didn't seem to offer quite the amount of protection in case of a spill, but I'm hopeful that they'll keep the water and the wind out.
I'll let you know.
Please do let us know how the gloves go! I really appreciate the time you have put in to writing this, we need more of it! My fingers do not like the cold at all and am looking for a pair of warm waterproof gloves, they do seem like a good pair from what I have seen. If I had money to test gloves I would get a group of motorcyclists together and do a whole lot of reviews :) Samuel

Will do firemansam87. I will very likely get some weather and cold on the trip to Isa!

The gloves were great! They got a little waterlogged overnight after getting a good soaking during the day when I stupidly forgot to try to dry them out. Even wet the next day though they were warmer than my previous pair that I had with me and tested out again. IMHO the BMW Pro Winter 2 waterproof gloves are a winner!
