The organisers of the TMCC Charity Ride to Tumut and the locals had organised a bus to make a number of trips from town to the Racecourse where the Lions Club were putting on a feed, a band and some drinks. Bike Biz were also there with a number of donated items that were up for raffle including a very sexy Shark Evo helmet, some jackets and other stuff including a few bottles of Moet were up for grabs.
Then there was also "band in a truck" playing an esoteric mix of C & W & W & C music that scarily some of the attendees knew! I was slightly disappointed that the food available consisted of Steak/Sausage/Rissole sangas with onion and coleslaw, I'd have preferred it a little more formally served on a plate without the bread, but having said that, it was good! Bourbon and Coke in cans at $8.00 stung a little but it was for charity and I'm not one to ignore a good cause! To Geoff and Robyn from the Lions Club, you did a great job!
I moved about most of the night between groups of people and met plenty, everyone I encountered immediately welcomed me and introductions flowed effortlessly. I had more of a chat with the guy who identified me from this blog and after some ducking and weaving managed to get a photo of him used in another entry. From not knowing a soul I met a bunch of people I'll be keen to catch up with on the next Blue Liners outing.
After the 4.30am start though, about 9.30pm I was glad to see the raffle drawn (I actually got drawn out for a bottle of Moet but sat on the ticket until it was redrawn... I didn't need to drink it and I didn't want it in my panniers for the trip home). The bus trip back to the Amaroo was soon over and I hit the bed really looking forward to the Snowy Mountains Highway in the morning.
