New battery installed and no pressure saw Heffy and I take our time over breakfast this morning and slowly getting ready to catch up with a few locals at a pub nearby for lunch. The coffee at our accommodation was abysmal so we left a little early and headed south to Sawtell to find a coffee shop, a tripple shot flat white was in order.
A while later we caught up with some friends and settled in for a chat and some lunch. A few of them, well 9 anyway, were heading south after lunch so we rode with them to Macksville, waved them off and kept going to Port Macquarie for a quick fuel stop and another coffee.
We didn't hang around there too long, keen to minimise the amount of riding we'd need to do in the dark and with a full tank there wasn't any need to stop again, only 250ks or so to go. While not as exciting as the ride over the mountains the trip was easy, relaxing and the traffic not to mad.
We made good time, which made me pretty happy because I arrived home just in time to head out for Chinese with my family.
The only thing of note, I've not done that much night riding on the Road King®, after a couple of hours in the dark this evening I'm going to explore alternatives to improve the lighting.
