Nice ride with BD1

By Wom Battle

It's been a couple of weeks since I have had a chance to take the Harley Davidson out for a spin and I was getting very keen to take it for a spin given it's recent service which included the addition of the Oil Cooler.  When I mentioned I was going for a ride for an hour or so my eldest daughter expressed a desire to come with me.  She's been on the Harley a couple of times but hasn't shown and sign of enthusiast status so I was more than happy to take her.

First up though measuring was required.  Last time she rode with me I needed to put the standard Road King seat back on, the additional padding in the Ultra Glide seat saw her legs dangling above the passenger footboards.  There had been some improvement, but a quick seat change was definitely required.

I decided to try out the new vest, the day was warm and we weren't going far, my daughter was dressed in Mum's Harley Jacket and Helmet.  It was time to leave with no particular destination or route in mind and half a tank of fuel, more than enough for this trip.

Heading out the link road to the Freeway I was thinking I might go south but didn't, I went north up to Beresfield towards Maitland, but decided not to go that far and turned right at Beresfield and headed towards Hexham. A last minute decision took us over the Hunter River towards Raymond Terrace with another detour around the Dam towards Williamtown.  Back over the Hunter River at Stockton and on Kooragang Island I asked my daughter if she was ready to go home or wanted to meander around the local beaches.  She chose the beaches.

After some scenic riding around the beaches we headed home.  94k's within the 1.5 hours I told my wife we'd be away.  The bike went great, we had a chance to get into some traffic to test out the oil cooler...all good.  I've had my Harley Davidson fix for the week and tomorrow's out due to social commitments.  Sad not to be riding tomorrow but glad to be spending some time with friends despite them being motorcycle "challenged".

Mate, I thought I saw you at Stewart Ave, at about 3pm Saturday. I pipped the horn, but sadly I'd hit the left blinker instead. "Bluddy Harley Blinkers!!!!" Anyway mate, great to see you have the oil cooler fitted. Make sure you contact me re the fans b4 you do any more!!! Mate you missed a brilliant day on Sunday. An absolute pearler. Must have seen at least 1000 bikes on the day & the central coast was absolutely magnificent

Wom, (I'm not sure what to call you), it's nearly been one year since you bought your bike. I am interested to know whether you'd do it all again. If you could have done something different, what would it be? When you decided to buy your bike, did you look at any other tourers?
