Early Morning and a Ride for Compensation

Date:
By Wom Battle

Things are hotting up at work with the lead up to the Christmas break, lots to do before the office closure. An opportunity for a social morning ride arose with Roy P and Max so it was up very early to take care of some work stuff that I've been struggling to get to because of a string of interruptions and decisions required.

I managed to get through it by 6.20am, went for my regular 5k walk with my wife and then geared up, with my son of course, and went to the meeting place, a quick macchiato and the two Harleys headed south at an easy pace.  About 50 minutes later we were at a cafe in The Entrance and had coffees (although my son did the milkshake thing) and a bite to eat.

The waiter at the cafe (Macaws) was funny.  His hands were shaky and he was dropping, spilling, knocking things all over the place.  I'm sure it wasn't because he was uncomfortable with the helmets and leather spread across a couple of tables, our food choices were too urbane to be scary. His clumsiness also wasn't restricted to our vicinity.

After a relaxing snack and chat it was time to head back to go to work, picked up $15.95 of fuel early in the return trip and back we came, a little quicker than the trip down, and a little warmer.  I did take the opportunity at one set of lights to give it a little bit of a squirt, only up to the speed limit of course, while not too disappointed, the Road King is definitely no rocket (no reference to the triumph cruiser intended)!

A small milestone reached, I passed my first 1000km mark on the way home.

Photo taken by Grandma just as we were leaving.
