I dropped into the local Harley Davidson dealership today to pick up the box of parts they took off my Road King when they fitted the Screamin' Eagle Stage II 103 Kit and the Super Tuner. The first thing they handed me was the header pipes and I got rather confused.
I recall dropping into the dealership one day where I mentioned the issue I had with part of the exhaust breaking clean through while heading towards Portland VIC in November last year. I had decided that the welding job done by the Kawasaki dealer in Portland was a good fix for it but my decided to bring it to the Harley dealer's attention just in case there was a warranty issue that needed to be resolved with it in the future. It seems that the dealer ordered the replacement parts based on that and kept them to hand waiting for an opportunity to fit them.
Given fitting the 103 kit to the Road King involved taking the exhaust off the cylinders it seems that this was the opportunity. At the same time they took out the exhaust regulator, which apparently is not needed with the Vance and Hines slipons the wonderment and mystery of the fatter sound of the Road King after the upgrade is very solved.
I kept all the parts except the exhaust regulator, I threw that sucker in the bin where it belongs.
